I heard you guys are unfriendly here

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You're correct the vast majority are really decent. The problem is that small percent that aren't. They think they're being funny with their arrogant answers.

apparently Nitro Pye wasn't happy how he was treated on our playground, and decided to take his ball back to his own playground, and cry to his friends.

Perhaps someone needs to HTFU.

I think the road forum has definately taken a few steps down in the last few months. I tend to hang out in the C&V and Singlespeed/fixed forums now-a-days.

I think the real problem is that there are a few people in this forum that just ruin it. They tend to flood the board with negative posts making the whole forum look bad. I have also noticed that the cranky members are usually the ones who actually race. Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure there are plenty of cool racers on here but the un-cool ones tend to pop up more often.

^^^^ If you don't understand the sarcasm in the responses in this thread, then you probably won't have much fun in the Road forum.

However, if you come to realize that 99% of the comments that seem to upset some folks are just attempts at witty banter, then you might actually find some useful information interspersed with attempts at humor, that sometimes are actually funny.

There is much brotherly love here.

I used to pound the living daylights out of my 4-years younger than me brother cause he was an easy target and it was a guaranteed FTW. It got trickier when he shot me in the ass with his pellet gun. We are still loyal brothers now that we are civilized adults (at least I am).

Same thing here. If your feelings are easily hurt, this is no place for you.

You say this coming from the FG/SS forum. This tells me you are trolling. They are the same if not worse.

Damn skippy. In just the last week, I have seen the unfriendly folks here lend a fellow rider a bike to train on and race, another offer to rebuild a crashed wheel (and offer a loaner until the wheel can be rebuilt), another offer to do errands for someone injured in a crash, etc., etc. Yes, the humor around here tends to be of the giving you grief type, so a thick skin is often warranted, but seriously, it's the internet! If you don't like what someone says, IGNORE THEM.

I just posted on another thread, that I have always found road cyclists to be a generally helpful bunch if you will just ask.
