Lemond Tete de Course

My Team/Club is sponsored by a Trek/Lemond dealer (now just Trek). They have a few 2008 Tete de Course test frames left and are selling them out at $1800. Anyone have any good or bad experience with this frame (only the frame, I won't be taking the wheels or components)? I rode it last night and it felt good but it had some $2600 wheels on the thing and I only took it out 20 miles.

Thanks,

Guy

I have the Victoire, which is essentially a heavier version of the Tete.

I love it.

However, my Victoire was pricey enough. The Tete is too rich for my blood.

Good review, thanks for the link. I wish I could afford the wheels.

OT: Can't speak to the qualities of the frame, but if you buy it and ever want it repainted, here are some tips:

Cheers.

There was a post on another thread a day or two ago that stated that the Kelly?? team decided that the Tete was too stiff and is riding another LeMond frame instead. Vague I know.. but maybe worth some research.

Well those yellow KBS team frames have been showing up on Ebay recently.

One sold, theres one now starting at $650, and another full bike.

I only see one and it sold for $550. Hummm... maybe $1800 isn't a very good price.

That's not the Tete the OP is talking about.

KBS/Medifast is now riding the Victoire. (I think)

Gee, really.

It was just a place for a gratuitous pic.

The Triomphe frame has almost the same geometry, but a more sloping top tube. My standard disclaimer on these frames - 55cm an up has a very small trail and very quick handling, if thats what you want. I only have about 10 miles on the new Triomphe Tete so not any better of an experience.

I dig that Tete... one of the last years the LeMonds had the classic graphics.. Ti and Carbon... cool bike.

They're redonkulsy stiff, but very light. They're definitely a racing frame. Price seems kind of high, especially with the family split, but if you're looking for a race frame you've come to the right place.

I've got the Ox Plat version of that frame. Nice.

With the split those are going on closeout if you can find them. Where are you located? Just got an email from Trek San Diego ... Tete de Course with SRAM Force and the Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon spec for $4k Linky http://treksandiego.com/images/libra...corse_07_m.jpg

I too only did a demo ride (Trek truck came through town)...the combination of frame, wheels and Force made for a great experience for me...I'm watching for the closeouts locally...oh, at $7K+, it was too much in my eyes, but, at $4K or so, you gotta very very very seriously consider it.
