Got chain grease all over my new shoe covers?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got chain grease all over my new shoe covers?

OK - I'm no Suzie home-maker, but this is only the second time i put these things on. I guess I didn't put the zipper in the locked down position so it was flapping in the wind hitting my chain the entire time. Any ideas how to safely remove the grease without messing up my shoe covers? Thanks!

Try simple green .... if that does not work goto an autoparts store and get some GoJoe hand cleaner and try that.

You're a cyclist. You get greasy. Leave it be.

When I did triathlons, I often found that I had bike grease on my swim cap.

What concerns me more is how you managed to ride at all with anything hitting your chain. On a fixed gear, that would be suicidal.

You didn't mention what kind of shoe cover it is. If it's one of those colourful with logo types then a harsh cleaner can damage it. If it's just a plain black one then there are a million different chemicals you can use....

You're lucky it didn't get caught in the chain between the chain ring or something... then you would of either hurt yourself or ripped them apart.
