Sigma Bike Computer Setup Help
 

Hi, I was unable to find an answer in the archives so could someone please tell me how to 'lock-in' my settings? I have a wired Sigma model # 1600 and I can't see it on their site. I had to change the battery after a winter's storage. It's most likely a 2005 or 06 model. Comes with cadence.

When I get back to the 'set English' frame, where do I go from there? Attempting to hold the 'set' button for three seconds only takes me to the next window ie 'km/M' in this case.

I'd like to think I'm technically literate although I'm prepared to weather any barbs directed my way from the bike community if it helps me solve my 'issue.' :o

***UPDATE. After having left it for 1/2 hour to eat lunch, it seems that the computer reset itself and in now functional. I'd still like to learn how to lock in my settings though...

When in the setup mode, press and hold the lower left button for 3 seconds (at least according to the manual). This "SET" button is not to be confused with the "upper right" button which is actually labeled "SET" on the screen, not sure who thought up this process.

My experience is that getting out of the setup mode is hit or miss ( I have the 1606L DTS computer ) and I find I frequently enter setup mode when I remove the computer from the bike. I have on occasion just had to leave it and let it return on its own like you did.

I have a Sigma BC 1600 computer. The button you need to press to enter and leave the setup mode is a tiny little button you press with a pen or similar underneath the unit near the mount. There's 2 buttons. The one on the left changes from wheel size 1 to wheel size 2 and the one on the right is the one to enter and leave the setup mode.

Ciocc77, I think that you are giving instructions for a Sigma BC 1106 which I have as well. Thats a very frustrating computer to setup.

I have the 1606L DTS, so I made the assumption ( wrongly ) that it worked the same as the 1600, and it does frustrate me when it goes into setup mode for no reason. Thanks for clarifying.

I had ball ache with my sigma 1600 DTS too. Everything here in my area of Germany seems to interfere with the wireless transmission, so consequently it only worked some of the time. I got really annoyed at having shelled out so much for the thing though, and wrote an angry email to Sigma to cry about it. They responded saying they knew that the streetlights were at fault, but they would replace my computer with an updated version for free. Well done for trying to rectify the situation, Sigma! They also admit however, that it won't work around the 65xxx Postfach area in any case (where the streetlight mothership is, or something).

Despite Sigma being nice and trying to fix everything, I'm definitely a bit sceptic about buying anything more from them.

The Sigma 1600 bike computer is not the easiest to program but once it's set up it has one of the best displays for the money out there.
