Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sram Powerlink 10 speed on Shimano 10 speed chain.

Does not work. I thought it would be as simple as it is on 9 speed chain, but it's not. That's my initial thought when I bought the link.

Yes it does. You have to put the link in place then rotate the chain until the link is about to go down and around the front chainring, then put some load on the pedal. You'll hear the link click together.

If it requires that much force to mount the link, I can only imagine the hassle when it comes to removing it.

Boy, another tool to carry. Have you tried removing it without using the tool?

Nope, although I suspect a good set of needle-nose pliers would work. FYI: SRAM rates those 10sp links for one time use only.

you can't remove it without chain tool. the only thing i can think it good for is closing an opened campy chain (the 5.9mm link anyway) instead of using the ridiculously priced hd link.

KMC makes a removable 10 speed link. So does Wipperman. All Interchangeable. Dumbest move SRAM ever made. People used to Buy SRAM instead of Shimano because of the removable link. Now, why buy SRAM when DA is cheaper? Until they change back to removable, I'll be buying KMC.
