Got a new bike. Pictorial and story!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I usually put the rear skewer handle between the seatstay and chainstay so it doesn't mess up the paint.

Thanks. I did not ride the origin 595. Why? Because the only guy I know that has one is almost an entire foot taller than me, so it would not have told me anything at all. I ride 90% of the time in flat lands with tons of winds, so I like bikes that are very stiff. The description of this one fit those requirements.
Tragedy....

Bike is very nice nonetheless. If you wanted a stiff no BS bike you found it. Road it once, then never touched it again, I can't afford it and my tarmac is plenty bike for me. Soon though... soon *drools*

Thanks for the comments.

The skewers are Omni racer. 40gr per pair. Can be found on ebay easily.

The wheels are Nimble FLY carbon.

The PF frame, fork, HS, and seat post may be going to a friend that wants to build it up again for his wife. According to him, emphasis on those 3 words, she wants to start riding as well. It is more than likely him putting words in her mouth, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt I guess.

Not taken offensively at all. I ask myself the same question. Most, if not all manufacturers these days turn the bikes into NASCAR rolling billboards. Despite that, there is a certain "thing" for lack of a better word about this one. At least to me.

Beautiful bike.
It makes me want one even more.
Maybe I'll finish out this season on my ZX3 and see what kind of deal I can get on a Look in the fall.

I would add some color to the mix. We should be able to see details on a bike that nice. With everything being black you can't.

Well, as the future owner of the PF frame, i can say it isnt coming without a HUGE sacrifice on my part...

Nevertheless, yes MY WIFE wants to ride with me and I couldnt be happier about it. Its not often we get to share in exercise activities. I hate to rollerblade and she wont MTB any more after taking a bad spill. This will give us something to enjoy together

Now, as for that LOOK, what can I say??? simply stunning. I can't wait to see it in person, albeit from behind and only for a few minutes as it dissapears into the distance leaving me longing for a better bike and stronger legs.

I am really happy for you. I hope you enjoy it to the max. With over 4K miles ridden in 2008, I'm sure the look is gonna gets its fair share of use.

Congrats again and PEACE Bud!

I got a PF ZX3 for my wife (I have one too), and she loves it. She's a strong rider, and it is one of several athletic hobbies we share (yes, including the one your thinking of).
It's great having a situation like that. The sacrifice is definitely worth it.

Very nice bike! For a guy who is fast enough for a power meter and who deals with tons of headwinds you don't have much of a drop from your seat to your bars. You might find that helps alot since you are in a much more areo position.

First of, I didn't know there was a speed requirement or qualification to use a power meter. I was under the impression this was simply a "tool" to help one improve. Second, the current drop in the bike is the result of a professional fit. I can tell you the difference in comfort and efficiency = power is very significant. As I said at the beginning of the thread, I will be dropping the stem a bit more over time. Being more aero on a bike does not necessarily make you faster. Often times the aero position is negated by the lack of efficiency and the huge discomfort too. I don't race nor do I compete on anything. I like to do long rides recreationally, so comfort takes a bit of a priority over a 3 feet drop from seat to stem.

I do not follow your logic. If you are only a recreational rider why would you care about a power meter unless you were a fred? It's just adding weight you do not need.

If you prefer a higher stem that's a personal preference but don't speak nonsense. If you are faster sitting up in the wind why would they have invented drop bars and why do most racers have 3" plus drops?

Because even recreational riders want to improve.

You know, for this I will have to refer you to the search function. It is obvious for some unknown reason to me you feel I need to justify something to you or someone else. So, I will amuse you and play along. I do it because I can, I want to, and I can afford it. If my answers don't please you, why don't you go back to the local club's forum to complain again why you got dropped again on a 18-20 MPH group ride. You seemed to be extremely good at that a few weeks ago.
