The pursuit, thus far..

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The pursuit, thus far..

2004 - Biking around the Boulder creek path, flagstaff and up to Nederland, for the first time I rode my bike for recreation and not a commute. I savored, I suffered, I felt held back by my target huffy MTB. I needed a road bike, I needed a job. Dec 04, I find my beauty. She is yellow and I have a CU jersey to match.
2005 - The affair began in may but plateaud a couple of months later at 17mph . Rabid group rides followed and grand visions of of racing played out. Then CRASH: we broke up that fall.
2006 - Ever so gently we reached out. Little interludes tried to rekindle a relationship that was once passionate. But the roaring fire was now tame candlelight and I played golf, I got fat. (well I got to 145#s)
2007 - We were back on steady. Nothing spectacular, just building up. The speeds were lacking but I discovered recovery rides, a great excuse to go slow! Other forms of social entertainment such as women, limited the time on the bike. I discovered WRI, I discovered I still sucked. I blamed genetics and it was the off season.
2008 - The sleeping giant has now risen for reasons unknown and now grandiose dreams arise. Dominating hills, droping the hamer and racing. The self loathing is strong on this one.
