Help me ID this stuff

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me ID this stuff

First of all I looked at Sheldon Brown's website to help ID this stuff, and I was saddened to learn that he has passed. What a loss of passion to the world.
I just scored an older raleigh from the thrift store. It seems to not have the same parts as listed in the catalogues listed on sheldon's website, most of those have campy groups. The serial number is also a little bit off, and hard to read as well. As best I can tell it is WB5005 / 48. with a 1219 stamped below, and a bit crooked at that. I interpreted it is 1975 bike.
The decals are mostly gone other than raleigh on the chainstay, downtube, and the carlton on the seat tube. The hoods say carlton on them. No tubing decals, fork decals that I can remember.
It has suntour Vx hubs? laced 36 spoke to wolber super champion rims. at least one of them, the other rim has a gentleman sticker on it.
Brevette S.G.D.G. pedals
GB or CB logo on the stem
Nervar Sport crank
Tange Headst
Dura Ace front derailleur
Campy cable guides
Rear Der is missing decal, you can see adhesive mark, and says made in france, it has 6 spd cassette
Pics if they fit
they do, also what are these shifters? S for shimano or suntour?
overall the bike looks decent condition, chrome excellent, lugs nice, wish it was way bigger.
yes I paid 5$ for it

It is a Raleigh Competition. Good bike. All Reynolds 531. The fork looks right, except for the paint.
The drivetrain parts are wrong, and are probably 'upgrades'. Not sure about the 'S'. I have some SunTour drivetrains, but no 'S'.

That's a good investment, even for the frame by itself.

It looks a lot like this one, but not exactly the same

There are heaps of other old Raleigh catalogue pics here:

Doesn't mention it in the catalog, but those are Suntour shifters. My instinct was that they were Huret derails, but that's just because I knew thery were mass market at one point but I had never seen a derail like the one pictured.

Honestly I am not too familar with vintage rigs past the late 80's . Check the Classic and Vintage forum for more info.
