Small Powertap question

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Small Powertap question

So lets say I miss a download. I ride again. I don't want to clr the data I just want to start a new day...am I screwed?

I started today and did not want to crl the data. I did this by accident once and lost a rides data. So how do I just start a new ride? It seems to start just where I left off on the last ride...

Thanks!!

You can ride multiple times w/out clearing. The rides will be broken up on download. If you clear, you'll lose data if you haven't downloaded it.

Have you checked your defaults?
Do you have the date and time correct?
Without going through it myself, it sounds like you've got some odd set up for intervals.
My experience is as waterrockets says, each time I stop a new ride data file is started. I merge files to get a complete ride combined where I've had to stop for traffic, stop lights, autograph seekers.....

The PT CPU has just one long data file that starts after a Clear and only ends when you Clear it again. Any 'ride' definition is done by the software that you use to download it. I believe WKO+ uses any 1 hour break in data.

If you want to have data from only this 'ride' without Clearing, you will have to start a new Interval (bad name since it is merely a time stamp and has nothing to do with intervals). If you then put the PT on Interval Mode, the data displayed will only be for that 'ride' (i.e since the last time stamp). You cannot have intervals within this interval.

So, there are two options for displaying data such as Average Power.
1 - Average since the last Clear and
2 - average since the last time a new Interval was started.

As noted, you can start a new interval, so you can see data for just the ride as you ride.

As a practical matter, I just note the time where I'm starting off on the new ride, and then let Cycling Peaks sort it out.

pics of PT data

Two examples. #1 has three data as downloaded. Note the dates show there are several files per ride indicating where I stopped for traffic. #2 shows same data merged to complete rides, 1 per day.

I'm shooting for a PT in '09. The wedding, the house, the Seven... Not a lot of cash is left over.

priorities

Hey!
Where are your priorities?
Remember, you're with friends.

Here is the plot of a 6 mile warm up to a 7.7 mile time trial and 6 mile warm down.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I'm sure* your betrothed will understand if your gift happens to fit your bike.....

*pretty sure, sort of.... maybe**

** if not you'll be forgiven and it will all blow over in 10 or 20 years. It's been 23 years and I'm sure*(see above) my wife has forgotten all about the river wadders I got her.....
