What do you think of this bike?

Im seeing this bike as a base to start from. Do you guys reckon its a decent bike from the specs? First thing id get rid of is those handle bars. And another thing ive not seen on many road bikes is the hydrolic brakes?

What do you reckon? Good first road bike at the price?

That's known as a hybrid. Basic road frame, wheels with mtb handlebars, brakes and shifters. That means you would need a special handlebar to use original shifters , or road handlebars with new brakes and shifters.

The brakes are mechanical not hydraulic.

bikes that already come with disc brakes and drop bars. They're mostly closer to CX/touring though.

Now notice that road bikes don't really need disc brakes because they're not going to be usable in conditions that would require them, like snow/ice/mud.
but if you have budget constraints, £300, then something like a trek 1000/1.2 would fit the bill.

1, I hope you realize that the price is not in US dollars, 2 road bikes do not use hydrolic brakes and 3 that bike is fugly
