How many Miles have you done on your trainer?
How many have you done at one time?
I had to do 70 miles yesterday.
I have my first century Saturday. Yesterday was my last day to get a long ride in before the ride and it was raining.

None. I put in some miles on the rollers in Jan/Feb, but since then, it's all been outdoors.

I lived in Collierville for many years. I know what 68 degrees and thunderstorms are like. BTW...I was there up till Saturday. I forgot how nice the roads are there. I am jealous.

I've got more miles on the trainer than the bike. Work schedual is killing me, unlike a lot of the losers on this forum.

A good action movie or a documentary makes time go by like no other, if that helps. I watched the entire "The War" documentary in 4 days while riding my rollers. Or get someone else to "ride" with so you can talk. It helps.

My trainer is stationary. It doesn't move an inch, much less move in miles.

I am amazed that you all do not measure more than just your time on the trainer.

Don't let people rag on you for riding your trainer. You're the only one who knows what conditions are safe for you. Your legs and heart still benefit from the effort. When I do get to ride outside, I find I can go longer and faster than I do on the trainer.
Good luck on your first century! Just remember to go out slowly and save your energy for the last hour or so. Be sure and tell us how it went!

I don't measure miles because its completely meaningless. "Miles" on the trainer do not correlate to miles on the road, and can vary with something as simple as tire inflation, or how many turns I gave the dial in bringing the roller up to the wheel.
So "trainer miles" gives me nothing I can use. Watts on the other hand gives me something upon which to base a plan and compare progress.

I do. I measure time, cadence, wattage, and HR.

I think the most I've done on the trainer is 88 miles. I did 80 yesterday and had an excellent workout. I spent my last hour doing LT intervals while I watched Liège-Bastogne-Liège (go hard when the racing is on, recover during commercials). But then, I'm one of those strange people who actually enjoys being on the trainer. (Weirdo alert.)

I do the same as far as watching movies. Finished 3:10 to Yuma last night and tried to watch Pearl Harbor, but had to turn it off for the bad acting.
I ride a lot of mountain roads and cars already make me uncomfortable enough. I really did not want to be out in that mess for a little over 4 hours, plus I HATE LIGHTNING. Had an uncle get killed by it and a window literally blown apart on me one night when our house was struck. Guess it has become a phobia of sorts.

^ The point that I'm not sure you're getting yet is that Miles is not the proper measurement; it's time and intensity.
Thus, if you need to put in a long ride to prepare for your century, and are willing to do it on a trainer, you should be looking at the hours and intensity the century will take you, and then working on your trainer for the relevent time and intensity.

I don't have a watt counter but kept HRM up as much as possible. I also have variable settings on the trainer and so would do different intervals involving climbs, sprints, etc. I tried to keep my trainer locked down to the point where I was putting in the same effort/HRM that I do on my long rides on the road compared to the measured mph, thus the closest I could get for my situation.
I train on the road a lot and am depending on it for the century. I wanted to get one more long interval of riding in and this was the best I could do with my time and conditions for the weekend.
Time of riding yesterday was 4 hours 15 minutes.

I've done 50 on trainer followed by 10 miles on rollers in one session. This was when it was raining in january as well open the garage and just watch the droplets fall as you stay dry. When you need to cool off, just walk outside...
