It's RPUI Friday!! for 5/2/08

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, I just finished an awesome pepperoni/mushroom canoli. Most of the day I tore apart a bike I just sold, boxed it up and dropped it off at FedEx. After that I ordered Record ergos, Chorus front der.,Chorus chain, white bar tape, 1 pro race2 tire. All from PBK. I am also watching a carbon Chorus crank and Chorus rear der. on Ebay. I hope to score those. These parts will go on my Evoke, and the Centaur thats on there now(1500 miles) will go on Ebay. As if the day could not get any better.....I checked my bank account on-line and noticed good ole Uncle Sam left a nice $1500 deposit for me. Sweet. No riding for me till Monday probably, my son has baseball tournaments all weekend, which is very exiting. Oh, I just remembered why I needed another beer, my father-in-law will be staying with us for a week, to watch my son play baseball. Dangit.... **goes and gets another beer**

Splitting my right-hand time between the mouse and Beck's Dark, wondering if I really want to start posting amongst you piranhas.

Decided at the last minute to go for a ride when I got home, it was a little chilly but went well. Took a shower and waiting for my knees to thaw while sipping on some orange grey goose. I will take it easy tonight as I have a family function tomorrow where I think scotch will be in order. Can't wait.

Drinking wine, cooking Italian food, and watching the wind blow like hell outside.

Drinking an Ipswich IPA, waiting on the pizza to get here. Thanks to a 70% chance of rain and storms tomorrow, I doubt I'll get to ride. Why is the weather always nice during the week and then miserable on the weekends?

Jose mixed with cherry limeade- awesome. That's after a really nice old vine zinfandel with a dinner of penne, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, and basil sauteed in extra virgin olive oil.

getting high off of BF and thinking the wind outside is rather strong with a thunderstorm watch for tomorrow... I think I'll take an extra long ride Sunday.

Debating between riding the trainer tonight or avoiding pain and reading a book- dinner will be a grilled vegetable panini with a protein shake.
Sat & Sunday are both ride days - I have been getting ready for the local crit series to start this coming Tuesday night, and I had completely spaced the fact that my first century (up in the mountains to boot) is in two weeks.

Many thanks to my LBS for
a. showing me a few more maintanance tricks on my bike
b. making me next bike upgrade harder by convincing me test-ride a Giant TCR
c. reminding me that the race is right around the corner

Bitter Woman IPA for me. 60% chance of rain tomorrow, and 15 m.p.h. winds. I will try to get in a quick ride. I am doing a century on sunday with 9000 ft. of climing, so nothing too hard tomorrow.

I didn't know they still made Red Dog. I haven't seen it, or at least noticed it, for a few years.

Just finished left-over Chineese (from lunch at the office) & a double kahlua (home made) & milk (too cheap for cream).

About to go make another one and finish off some rhubarb pie.

The weather along the Oregon coast is finally improving, so should be able to ride tomorrow and Sunday. Actually got rides in on 7 out of the last 9 days and should get in 2 more in the next 2 days.

Drinking cheap red wine and digesting some homemade pizza.

Weather is not looking too promising for tomorrow but I'll probably at least run some errands on the fendered beast and maybe do some wrenching.

tomorrows forecast looks good for the 65 mile group ride, so the alarm clock is now set, and the bike has had the once over twice.

Salmon burgers and mixed salad for dinner, Red Seal Alessss now, and tomorrow's ride is the 30 mile version of Tour de Cure with my father. He's 63 and on a hybrid and I'm 33 on road bike so it will be a long slow ride. I have selfish thoughts of dropping him at the start but will practice patience and revel in the quality of family time.
