Peeing Outdoors = Sex Offender?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think around here you have to compile several public urination offenses to be considered a sex offender.
I'm not even going to go there on bladder control/peeing in public thing... I'm not going to lie I've got a bit of envy in that department.

Damn, I'm from Portugal and know for sure that a cop would yell at a kid who was staring at a guy taking a leak.

I read something to the effect in a few different places lately. I have had to "drain my main vein" a couple times outside recently while on a ride and Im concerned. Im not hanging my @#$% out in the street for the whole world to see or anything. Im talking about, going off of the road, in some cover and taking a leak.

Discuss....

puritans gone nuts. move to a more civilised country.

of course, purposely standing in a kids playground and letting loose would be wrong, but sometimes you Americans have got it all wrong. and you call yourselves tolerant!

Tolerant? Have you read any of the Fred discussions here?

And on another note - we should move to a more civilized country where they piss on the streets?

We would hope...

But then we live in a world that thinks "Survivor" and "American Idol" is important compelling dramatic television.

Ever seen the Truman Show? It's the truth.

I don't think it really matters what the law really says in your area. I think it just matters if it's an election year and whether the incumbent DA is running for re-election on a "get tough on crime" platform.

Whether a cyclist is charged with a sex crime for peeing, to me, would be a purely political stunt.

Sadly, in South Carolina, you would considered a sex offender on the first conviction of public urination.

This is the country to ban 'public urination' even if it is not obviously in 'public view'. What should be banned is ogling/complaining about a person relieving himself/herself due to an obvious emergency.

Also banned is public breast feeding of infants in many places. These are luxury issues, while a war is being waged. Most third world countries have real issues to focus on. India's most popular postage stamp has a mother breast feeding her baby. Try getting a Janet Jackson breastfeeding stamp here to pass.

I'm pushing for a FedEx envelope showing a few cyclists peeing on the move in a race sponsored by DHL. It is so much more convenient, plus you don't have to struggle 20 mins to catch the group.

I actually have a friend who was arrested for urinating when he was mountain biking. It's been a long time since he told me the story so I forget all the details. His roommate had to bail him out. Pretty sure he wasn't registered as a sex offender though.

Now that I'm old, seems I have to pee more often when I ride .... or maybe I drink more. Anyway. I have pretty quiet roads, so I just pull over and pee while straddling the bike. If I hear a car coming. I'll stop, and take a drink until they go by.

If you decide to go on a playground while all the kids are out on recess, yeah, you're probably going to be labeled a perv.

If you're discreet make efforts not to be seen, you're probably ok. Obviously the more rural the area, the safer you probably are.

If you DID get busted and they wanted to register you as a sex offender, the odds are pretty good that a decent lawyer could get the charges modified so that you wouldn't be registered...assuming that you weren't doing something pervy to begin with.
