First Ride with The Giant!

I went to my LBS and picked up the bike today, after they fitted me. Then I went to another LBS to get all the accessories, because they both are great LBS's.

Anyways I go to our local path and rode 27.5 miles in about 2 hours. It was nice and smooth. I did fall 3 times because I unclipped my right foot and leaned left. Not a thing to do I learned! I was cruising around 19m/h at a cadence of about 70-90. My max cadence was 130, speed was 27.7. I also have a polar heart monitor the F6. I had the chest strap on the whole time I burnt 1547 calories with a max of 171hr and average of 138. I was in my zone of 140-176 for 1:05.

Had a great day guys. Its awesome to be able to ride now! I am attaching some pictures so you can see my new beauty.

Also its a 2007 Giant TCR A1. With full 105.

Glad you got to get out and enjoy your new bike. I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to pick up my new Felt F85. EXCITED!

:roflmao:

Me too! I got the TCR C3 about 3 weeks ago with blue in the older "less desirable" paint scheme - the bike is SICK - I put on Ultegra derailleurs, Shimano wheels, cranks, and breaks - quite economically took off 1-2 lbs, since I had these components on an '07 Felt F75 that I'm selling. The new paint is nice, although I do like the exposed carbon on my frame. The flashy blue and silver just seems so...'90's. The bike climbs and descends like a dream, but take it EASY with those tektro breaks, or make that your first upgrade unless you've got good insurance - nearly blew it badly on my first fast descent!!

Congrats on your new ride - yet another Giant rider that has seen the light! (But please stop falling over unclipping - your bike hates it, and you should be charging $$$ to provide entertainment for other riders!)

Nice bike!

By the way, you may want to make sure and buy some more stuff from the first store also because as I understand it the money in bike shops comes from selling the accessories rather than the bikes.

Really, all I don't like about the paint on my bike is the silvery checkered flash, which is on all the '06 models...guess I'm picky - I'd prefer to have as much exposed carbon as possible (which the new scheme fails to do even worse...). I just like the cleaner lines on the newer models if exposing the carbon fabric is irrelevant.

Bontrager 05-11-08 02:49 PM

Ahhh. The 1st time I saw that paint scheme, I thought the guy had a custom paint job.

Well the original lbs i was going to buy from sold only specialized, and they are closer to me. After I rode the Giant from the other LBS I wanted to get that. So I wanted to try and make both LBS's happy. I also like specialized accessories more. In this economy we have to cut costs wherever we can. It cost me $50 to fill my car tonight at $3.75 a gallon. I bought the bike, lock, trunk mount, pedals, and a jersey from the lbs, and then a helmet, air pump, c02, tube, levers, bag, and computer from the other LBS.

Most of us only have to do that once to learn . But great-looking bike! I saw one at my LBS and had to think twice about wanting to wait another year or two before getting a new bike.
