Are there issues with Campy Vento Wheelsets?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Are there issues with Campy Vento Wheelsets?

I have been looking for a set of Ventos wheels and found some threads that stated there were many problems with the rear wheels failing. Is this an issue to the older model or the current ones. I already have a set of Eurus wheels, which I am very happy with. I am just looking for a everyday training wheel that is under 350.00..

I am just checking to see if the threads I am reading are talking about an older version of the wheelset.

I know some people have issues with the g3 spoke pattern for the front wheels.

They are relatively bombproof, heavier than higher end wheels and a bit more whippy in my experience. Yes the G3 pattern in front doesn't make much sense.
I prefer one or two steps up in the Campy line but on the cheap, nothing wrong with Ventos. My suggestion is look for some Scirroco's or Zonda's on ebay which will meet your cost target.

I already have the eurus wheels which is in the middle of the line, just looking for something in the campy line for an everyday wheel that could take some abuse and keep it under 350.00..

I have had some people email me about the Fulcrum 7's and the Khamsin wheels.. 1900+ gram wheels are not an issue for training..

If you aren't afraid of the fulcrums, pick up a pair of the 7s or 5s. They'll meet you price goal and are great training wheels.

I had a pair of the older G3 front Ventos and found them unsatisfactory. I bought them for the same reason you're stating - I had Eurus and I wanted a set of "second" wheels from Campy. The Sirocco or even the box section wheels would be good (Neutrons?). I'd avoid the Ventos though.

I'd get a standard spoked front wheel regardless of manufacturer. Fulcrum is Campy if that's any help.

what about the khamsins, people complain over the weight but not really an issue considering it's a training wheelset..

One problem might be having to use Campagnolo in the first place

lol

The less expensive Campy wheelsets have cheap hubs. I'm not keen on them but they work.

A used Zonda would be a great wheelset, but I don't know too many people who sell them. Ditto a used set of Eurus (I sold my first gen Eurus to a friend for $300 and threw in a second set of box section wheels for free). I haven't checked what's out there right now but you may be able to find something like that.
