By the way I ended up getting the 51 and not the 54 :thumb:

I thought you aready said you got the 54. By the pics I thought you took it home and already went out on a ride from home on the 54. Did you exchange it?

toneb 05-15-08 09:02 PM

I had gotten the 51 but exchanged for the 54 and then I exchanged back to the 51. I just rode the 54 down the block. I'm glad I exchanged it though, honestly the fit is much better.

Ahh yes, Orbea and their "odd" geometry. I'm still torn between a 54 or 57. I haven't ever been fitted (which I should do, I know...) I'm 6' with a 32" max inseam and it might be a tad shorter than that. Been quite a process trying out different bikes.

I'm 5'10" with a 29.5" inseam. My Orbea Aqua is a 54. It fits well, but have a 130mm stem and the saddle is all the back on the rails. On the 51 I was too hunched up. I feel a 52.5-53 woul dhave been better, but unavailable.

Very nice Orca OP.

I have an 07 Onix, I'm 6'0 with a 31" inseam and short arms. I ride the 54, which is a smaller size than my previous bikes (Trek and Giant). I love the bike btw.

Doesn't mean a thing to you but I thought I'd add it to the mix.

What's your cycling inseam? A team I was invited to might get some team bikes, but I always thought they were for people with short legs, or that's what they've felt like.

6 (6'.3/4" on a good day :) ) ft 33.5 inseam ride a 54cm with 130 mm stem about 1" spacers. I had the 57cm but getting the 54 was by far the most intelligent move for me. virtually the same set up as before but just a tad bit more aggressive and loving it. it took me a while to dial in but now i have found the position that is most efficient for me.

I am 5'9 and 30inseam. I have 2 orbeas, one 51 nad one 54. They both fit. The 51 is for short fast rides the 54 for longer rides.

Good to see some 6 footers with shorter inseams on 54's. Orbea most definitely has a different geometry. I think I'd be set up how vic32amg does with a little longer stem based on my test rides.

cwilliams 07-04-09 09:13 PM

Sorry...thread from the dead. I never updated my outcome. I bought the 54cm and had the stem swapped to a 120. I haven't had to adjust anything fit wise in the year or so I've owned it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, get the 51. I'm 5.9" as well and everybody tells me I'm a 51 frame in an Orbea...I think I'm a 54 but is not what I think it is what it is..a 51 will be better, you can ride a 54 if you want..;) sorry this is a very old tread.. Jezzzzzz
