Request - Butt friendly bike shop recomendations

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Request - Butt friendly bike shop recomendations

In the Orlando area (Orlando, Longwood, Lake Mary or maybe Clermont).

I need a nicer saddle, one more confy than the stock that came with the bike (a Trek 1.2). On my old MTB I was using this... go ahead, laugh. But it was cheap, confy and got the job done. I did 60Mi rides on it, I spent full days (8+ hours) on it, no butt issues. But there's no way in hell I'm gonna put that thing on the road bike. I wont work anyway, It would be hard to balance the road bike with it.

I've heard that some bike shop have some kind of butt measuring contraptions. Also heard that some allow you to go back and change the saddle if not confy enough after a few days. In short, some bike shops are more 'butt friendly' than others.

If you have some experience with butt friendly bike shops in the area please let me know.

PS: I already have the padded lycra. Yes, it helped... but is not enough for long rides. And yes, I know I need to HTFU, I'm working on it.

Thanks in advance

Update: I have found my dream saddle. THX for all the replies... no more saddle issues for me. Now lets ride!

I believe that the first step to full OCP status is recognizing/admitting/learning from my mistakes

Find a Specialized dealer, they have the sit bones measuring thingy. You sit on a foam thing and it measures the impressions. You then buy the proper width saddle.

Indeed. If you are going to buy a saddle, you should do it in a place who do care about your butt.

specialized and bontrager have fitting systems. I don't know about Specialized, but Bontrager has an unconditional comfort guarantee.

Generally (always?) Bontrager shop = Trek shop.

Any shop - either the above or another - that has a satisfaction guarantee is a good place to buy a saddle because, REGARDLESS of whether your butt gets measured, you still need to ride the saddle and decide.

You don't need hi-tech; go old skool with a Brooks.

And I'd look into getting fitted on your bike by a professional.

Specilized shops have a "Butt-O-Meter" that measures the width of your "sit bones".
It helped me decide to buy a wider seat than I thought I needed.
My San Marco Rolls is great and I didnt have to try 147 different seats to find one that is comfortable.

Done!

I went to both Specialized and Trek shops. But the greatest advice didn't came from the Butt-o-Meter. Actually, the Butt-o-Meter said I should keep the saddle I had. An enlightened bike tech/racer working on one of the shops gave me the most helpful hints. Technology couldn't beat experience this time.

I ended up with a Bontrager that's just a little bit wider than the stock saddle, and has a little bit more padding. I rode it today for 31 miles and I have NO MORE SADDLE ISSUES!

cheers!
