Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You have a couple of options.

1- Go to a colorectal surgeon or someone of similar practice. Have him slice it open and be healed in a day at the most.

2- Slice it yourself. Obviusly the doctor method is prefered because they know what they are doing and they use sterile instraments.

3- Take a shower/bath and immediately dry it off and put baby powder on it. Keep it as dry as possible and it will heal up. May take a couple of days though.

I would honestly go method 1 and be done with it. Plus while your there have him check you out for anything else. Don't be embarassed either. These doctors have seen it all and a saddle sore won't faze them.

a lot of times you need a course of antibiotics. take care of it because when they get bad they can leave serious scar tissue.

The man who had a matter of two minutes lead in the race had an attack of boils, which were very painful. He sat on the small of his back. His neck was very red and the blond hairs were sunburned. The other riders joked him about his boils. He tapped on the table with his fork.

"Listen," he said, "to-morrow my nose is so tight on the handlebars that the only thing touches these boils is a lovely breeze."

One of the girls looked at him down the table, and he grinned and turned red. The Spaniards, they said, did not know how to pedal.

So, I was cruising that article, and this paragraph stuck out.

"Note: If you start your rides with a clean crotch and a clean, Vaseline-covered chamois, and you reapply Vaseline daily, you can go a week or two without laundering your shorts. That's how good Vaseline is."

what?

Rivendell, sheesh...

Happened to me, despite chamois cream a few weeks ago. My mistake was driving home in my cycling shorts after a hot 115 mile ride - and not using enough chamois cream. After much internet research I did the following, besides keeping it clean as normal. 1) I rode with a drawing salve (20% Icthammol) on it, covered by a band-aid a couple of times, worked great. 2) 1% hydrocortisone cream and a topical antibiotic and 3) Used bag balm for extra protection once it started to get better. It took about a week of extra care, but still rode 80 miles that week.

vaseline? really? sounds like a recipe for one disgusting pair of shorts! no way am i slathering vaseline all over my chamois. i say keep a clean dry crotch and make sure your gear fits. maybe a little talc/corn starch based powder.

neosporene or hydrocortisone sound better for healing after it has been popped.

Whenever I get a saddle sore, I put hydro cortizone cream on the sore twice a day, and it's gone in a day or two, but usually a day.
