Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized Dolce Elite vs Fuji Finest 1.0

I'm about to buy my first road bike. I'm torn between Specialized Dolce Elite ($1100) and Fuji Finest 1.0 (1100). Here are the specs of both bikes any help will be greatly appreciated.

https://www.fujibikes.com/2008/bikes.asp?id=426#
https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=34177

I'm planning to ride often and potentially train for El tour de Tucson by next year
Thanks

Component wise, the fuji is a tad better, it's also a compact double 10 speed whereas the specialized is triple 9 speed geared lower, it would depend on if you need the low gearing or not and the fit of both.

Personally I like the look of specialized better and its slightly cheaper and geared lower if you need it.

I have a Dolce Comp, triple, and love it. Rode it today since I'm waiting on a new Orbea frame to replace my old one. It never fails to deliver a satisfying ride.

The Dolce is comfortable, reliable, responsive, and comfortable for long rides. I've done about 10 centuries on it, as well as many group rides. I could probably race on it, too, since it goes fast. I've been riding it almost 3 years and hope to ride it for many years to come.

Haven't ridden the Fuji since that wasn't an option for me at the time I bought the Dolce. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Ride both bikes and make sure your fit is spot-on; that's more important than the bike, IMNTBHO.

And yes, visit the women's forum. We love to talk bikes.

My wife loves her Dolce Elite. Sweet bike.

Agreed, the component mix on the Fuji is probably a bit better, but you'd never realize anything from the saddle regarding quality. Triple vs. compact is a personal preference thing.
