New Super Record
Rumor has it there's a new Super Record in the works, going against SRAM Red. Sounds like they're going to be using ceramic bearings.
Don't know much more than that.

Sweet...if true it should be out around the same time (I am assuming the end of the year) as I get my yearly bonus which I plan on dumping into a new bike.

Rumor also has it that it will be 11-speed.

Not to sound retro-grouchy or anything, but I thought that the race for more gears started to get a little ridiculous after eight-speed cassettes.
Who am I to complain, though. Each iteration of cycling technology is invariably cooler, if not actually better.
I'll take SRAM Red, though.

I have heard Super Record will be the electronic version where as 2009 Record will be 11 speed with a 5.5mm chain. Not backward compatible with 2008 and earlier derailers.

rumor has it it'll be in the Italian national colours.
It'll have Green and White on top of Red, so it'll be 3 times better at the very least with simple calculation.

yes, 11sp. From what I understand, there will be two separate gruppos: Super Record and an Electronic version (don't hold your breath).
My guy says it'll be at the Tour for sure.

This happened for one reason and one reason only: I installed a full Record gruppo on my Merlin yesterday! That always immediately obsoletes a product.
(By the way, the ride to work today was pure bliss! I can't believe I endured Dura Ace 10 all these years. )
P.S. I rode my 1983 Peugeot with Super Record this weekend while I had my Merlin apart -- Super Record's just not all that.

The rumor I've seen was on another chat board from a guy who said he was previously employed by Campy.
Personally, I'm still clinging to my square taper Chorus.
I think product development is good in general, but 11 speed does nothing for me.

it was already done in the WW thread, didn't bother to repeat it here, but if you insist:

Campagnolo will announce it's 2009 line-up at the end of May. I believe Shimano will announce at the end of June.

-So why don't you just make the ten better and then have that be the best?
-See most bikes- they only go to ten.
My bike- it goes to eleven!

So we've already seen Pro's break 10 speed chains. Why the heck do we need 11 speed with EVEN thinner chains?
9/10 speed are plenty?
Replacing cassettes every few months because of wear on bloody thin cogs is so freaking stupid. Frankly, it might not account for much, but it's a waste of natural resources.
