Am I ready?

I figure I want to bike from Portland Oregon to Vancouver BC this summer.

I think I am ready. I bike to the store a couple miles from my house almost every day and I feel really strong. There is even a 100 foot tall mountain on the way there and I just hammer up that thing. My bike is a 50 pound hybrid with a 20 pound trailer that sometimes I haul my 85 pound dog in. . The other day I rode 20 miles and averaged 30 miles an hour. It was all downhill it was still 20 miles and I felt strong like king Kong doing it.

I know a bunch of you are going to try to tell me I should actually put some training time in, Ride distances crap like that, but every suggestion you give me I am just going to shoot down because I know I am ready. Besides secretly I think that I know more than most all of you losers put together.

I'm the biking coach for the Uzbekisten cycling team.

I know time is short, but we'd love to have you on our team for the China Olympics. You sound like just the type of rider we're looking for.

Don't worry about the citizenship issues. I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Try Portland to NYC, seems to be more you level of riding. Five days should cover it.

I have some friends who just finished a tandem ride from Vancouver to San Diego.

Perhaps you passed them along the way - they mentioned seeing a bike with a trailer with a dog.

Good luck on your ride.

You are definitely ready for that ride.

Try Vancouver to Portland -- on a map it is all downhill in that direction.

Fixitman, are you for real or just being sarcastic? I am having a little trouble discerning your tone.

And Fixitman ... you know you're only ready for something like that if you have read some fitness books and played soccer back in high school.

Well, I feel sheepish. :o Fixitman, I always love thinly veiled sarcasm. Man, I need to get with it here.

Nobody is ever ready. Don't let that stop you.

:D

In fairness to the guy who posted the original question last week, his was a genuine question and actually requested information as to how he might improve. Even botto gave him a civilised response if I remember correctly so it must have been an honest post. :)

This is like the worst troll attempt ever

*edit* Nevermind....should've figured it was in response to another dumb post. Seems to be popular as of late....

Oh I'm sure you could find a Pcad thread in the archives that would top that.

GuitarWizard 05-24-08 04:06 PM

Hey how did you know I played soccer Back in high school ? I’ve read lots of fitness magazines I think they are far superior and more accurate than these books you talk about. Especially the stuff in the back
