Sorry to keep bringing this old thread back but I wanted to address the comments made above....
First, the frame, group and wheels were all used when I got them. Hardly used, but still used. Total cost to build this bike as photographed was right around $2700. Of course, it took the better part of 6 months to source the deals but it was well worth the work and time.
Sadly, I no longer have this bike. When I lost my job last year, it was the first to go and in retrospect, I wish I had kept it. I LOVED riding this bike. But I couldn't deny the resale value - I actually made money on it. And I know there will always be other bikes...

Very nice and I am sad to hear that you had to let it go. You will find a new job and a new Orca! I have the all black matt carbon finish 2009 frame with out the white accent panel, just the thin stripes. It has an 11speed Chorus kit on it, 3T Ergo Sum bars and stem, Thompson post, and RSys wheels. Besides being fun to look at, it climbs like monkeys on crack. I don't know about some of the comments on how expensive it is as I never buy list price anything. I bought my frame on EBay from a shop that had it as a demo. Paid less than half the new price for a frame fork. I call it an Ebaya... My one complaint about the bike is the clearance at the rear brake bridge between the seat stays. Very tight, unnecessarily so. I can't run my Rolf wheels with standard 23cm tires on it. The tires touch the bridge - too tall. Rolfs run slightly taller than do Mavic and when I swap them on or off my Merlin, I have to reset the brake shoes. Aside from that, it is a super bike, very stiff, and very light. Under 16 pounds and it rolls down the road straight. For sure, my favorite climbing bike. Inspite of it being carbon, I find my Ti Merlin to be a little more comfortable for all day rides of 5 or more hours. For shorter fast rides or hills, the Orca for sure it the winner. Will post some photos shortly.
