Giant OCR1 - Is this a good deal? Help please!
Ok, so I have been riding for a few months (a loaner Road Bike from a bike club locally), and I decided it's time to buy. I am training for a Triathlon (first one ever) in September, and I really enjoy road biking.
The bike is a 2006 Giant OCR1, Full Shimano Ultegra components (27 speed), carbon fork/seatpost, and it includes pedals, water cages, digital speedometer, and a seatpack.
It has about 600 miles on it.
The owner wants $800 for it. Is that a good deal? Or is it worth less?

The OCR1 is not a particularly high-end frame (it is the same frame as the OCR3, which is a Sora-equipped entry level bike). That said, Ultegra is a good groupset. However, it is 9-speed Ultegra (not 10-speed) which is slightly outdated. So my bike man instinct tells me that $800 is probably a little too high. $650 would be more fair, and $500 would be a great deal.

Do you have any bike advice? A buddy of mine tells me to go to bikesdirect.com, but I am not sure. What do you think would be a good bike for me? I am looking to spend between 600 and 800

For what it's worth, I bought a 2006 Giant OCR1 as my beginner road bike last year for $1000 with 105 components. After 3000+ miles on it, I have no regrets and still think it was worth it.

The 05 OCR is spec'd with Ultegra, but not "full" Ultegra
I am the owner of an 04 OCR1 and think that either one is overpriced at $800.00

I bought a new 2007 OCR1 back in April for $899 with pedals. An earlier poster said the frame isn't that great. I've never had a nice road bike before so I couldn't tell a good frame from a bad one, but I enjoy the bike.
