Former library worker, now impoverished M.A. student, soon to be impoverished PhD student. Actually, they pay you pretty well to be a PhD student. Surprisingly. After you get the degree though, you're hooped (if you're a humanities major).
Hopefully I'll slip into a teaching position or a post-doc right away though. Next year I should be able to get back into racing but this summer has all been studying. Worth it, but in the short term it's painful. Summer means racing to me.
Oh well.

Before I retired in April of 2006, I did collections for The State of Washington. Since January we have been building a new home in Oregon. Since Memorial Day, I am concentrating on recovering from a broken arm so I can get back to finishing our house.

Your Place of business was the whole reason I took orders to Newport, RI, but then I realized how far a drive it was to Bristol and that put a kink in my plans. Do you guys do internships for engineer/ technical types?

I do engineering/assembly validation for a major bike company...in wisconsin...pretty easy to figger out.
the plus side: work from 6a-2p every day. so i have all afternoon to ride/f-off. have the kettle moraine mtb trail right on my way home and sweet roads all around. get to try out new stuff. sweet, sweet job for a bike guy.
downside: i live 30 miles from work and commuting by bike at 4am is pretty unappealing.
But I love my job!

Main Job:
Work for the government as a Network Support Specialist. I do anything from changing a toner cartridge, fixing a computer, automating software installs, and network administration. Its a really low stress job, so its nice.
Side Jobs:
Group Ride Instructor at 360Fitness. I also do web site management for 360's site, and fix computer problems they have. Finally I fix computer problems on the side for friends.

No, I can't make your kid do the work, and no, I won't call you every day to let you know how the little angle is doing. Monitoring your kid is your job.

I just graduated with a political science degree. I have no idea what to do. Anyone looking to hire someone with no real qualifications? On the plus side, I'm currently a professional dishwasher, in fact I am the de facto King of the Dishwashers in my little fiefdom.
