brooks brown or black on this bike?
I've decided to give a brooks saddle a try, the koobi just isn't the one. Buying from wallbike.com which offers a 6 month satisfaction guarantee. I have a black bike with red accents so duh black seat right. Thing is I love light brown leather. So how bad a color combo would a honey brooks be on this bike?

They all start to look like **** after a while anyway. Especially after you have a few thousand miles on them. Brooks saddles are all about comfort, nothing about looks.
(I'd go black)

i jam my thumbs up and back into the tubes. this way i can point my fingers straight out in front to split the wind and attain an even more aero profile, and the usual fixed gear - zen - connectedness feeling through the drivetrain is multiplied ten fold because my thumbs become one with the tubing.

Honey, if you have matching tape.

Neither. Why would you want to put a boat anchor saddle on a modern lightweight bike? I'm sure there are plenty of comfortable light weight modern saddles you could use. It's like putting old steel Cragar mags on a new Porsche.

Black. The only way you can pull off honey is with the matching bar tape, and even then black will look better.
Wallbike's return policy is hard to beat - that's where I got the Brooks on my Bianchi commuter.
To each his own. They are not that heavy, as most of the road bike saddles (Swift, Swallow, Team Pro) are around 500g I believe, and if you find them to be the most comfortable thing out there, the ~200-400g penalty over another saddle is worth it. (Then again, I ride a 12 year old bike that weighs just over 20 pounds and am far from a weight-weenie. )

Anyways, I now ride a 16.5-pound road bike........ with a Brooks B-17 TI saddle. Yes, it gets some interesting looks.
As for the OP, black would look the best, but when you're riding it it's not showing, anyways!

If the brooks is as comfortable as people say, well worth the extra .66 of a pound over my current saddle. Plus there are other places I can shave .66 of a pound like my midsection. I won't say cosmetics don't matter, that's why I'm not getting the honey . But with a saddle I'd rather be comfortable and unfashionable. But who knows maybe I'll get the brooks and hate it.
Ordered black w/copper rails.

Be sure to use lots of Proofide, and give it lots of time/miles before you give up if it's not comfy right out of the box. It took me about 200 miles before i no longer noticed the seat when I rode. Now, it's awesome.

I'm surprised black is winning. Well, maybe not so surprised with this crowd.
I voted brown/honey. Maybe 'cos I have the Selle Anatomica in Honey; I do have the matching bar wrap and mine's on a white frame.
Brown would add a touch of .. class. Kinda like a nice, polished pair of dress shoes to finish off a suit .. with the matching belt (wrap in this case).

Black. I have a Honey one lying around that I just can't bring myself to put on my new Tarmac (black and blue, and yes, I am shallow enough that looks matter like that) so its staying on my touring bike until I can afford another. Have to deal with the "modern" seat that hurts like crazy until I can get back onto a Brooks. There is nothing like the ride of a seasoned Brooks. Pure heaven.

Brooks saddles look so funny on newer bikes. If how it looks is a big concern I'd have to agree with Chuckie.

Just for the heck of it, I took the Brooks off of my touring bike and put it on my Roubaix. I have a Salsa set back seat post and I couldn't get the saddle back far enough. My inseam is a 34. Just so you know the rail are shorter than any other saddle. Oh, I didn't like the looks of it either, but comfort is more important than looks.

your priorities are in order
At my age, I've learned not to make any concessions to comfort. Back in my teens and 20's, I could ride for hours on my aluminum-framed Cannondale that delivered every bone-jarring bump in the road to my derriere. As the years passed, my body started letting me know that this wasn't going to work for the long-term. My Concor saddle didn't help, either, and my rear end would complain after every ride. Being a weight weenie, I went through a bunch of titanium/magnesium/plastic ultra-light seats before I came to the realization that I needed to re-think my priorities when it comes to the ol' butt-machine interface.
Anyways, I now ride a 16.5-pound road bike........ with a Brooks B-17 TI saddle. Yes, it gets some interesting looks.
