Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is it wrong...

Is it wrong...

...to eat THIS in-between rides?

Nice, easy 25 miles in an annual huge charity ride here today with my wife riding too. For pics click here
Ate that at the VIP area afterward, then left on my own real ride solo for 36 miles after the 25....fueled by brat, kraut, beans and beer.

nomnom nom nom....

why would it be wrong to eat that if you're riding it off afterwards?

I sometimes eat a $1.50 hot dog w/ sauerkraut + coke (totaling around 1000 Calories) before a ride. I get to re-taste it during my ride, but hey, cheap fuel!

It's a 20 oz with free refill, making 40 oz. That's 500 Cal right there. The hot dog is well over 500 with toppings.

Oh, and here's some really interesting info about eating artery-clogging food before exercise:

Hell, I eat a can of chili (plus a few english muffins) at 7:00am before long rides. As long as it doesn't hit 80 degrees I have no problems.
