Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Chain Love

Call me a shill, whatever. I don't work for this company. I am addicted to steep-and-cheap, and they have now come out with a site dedicated to cycling. Cool stuff I hope.

chainlove.com

Get some ladies on there to buy those shorts so I can see what comes up next!

Seriously, this is going to kill my productivity and my wallet - and I was just starting to get over SAC.

I've never heard of steep-and-cheap, but this looks like an interesting idea.... i signed up for the email, but after i submitted it, I saw that there's an RSS feed I could've used oh well, I'm sure the 'unsubscribe to email' linky will have no ill effects

For people that have been doing this for a while, care to share how often new items come up, or how long items stick around for? I'm sure this can vary greatly, depending on the product, so just a ballpark would be nice to know.

Some things on steep and cheap last only minutes, obviously depending on demand.

ok then... I now stand before you all on the precipice of a daunting decision.

this is my first hearing about it and, as I said earlier, I'm immediately intrigued by the notion. It seems like it's a place where you can get ebay like deals, without having to deal with the hassle of bidding. However, I'm not sure that this is much better in that it seems you'd have to stay on top of it to witness the deal as it happens (for things that are particularly hot). I now understand what y'all mean when referring to it as a productivity killer

Now, back to the aforementioned decision: do I let this website fade into the inky blackness of memory? Or do I spend the next few days standing on the site and refreshing every minute or two?

And they say our country's productivity is going down.

edit: Oh, and I'm surprised the URL wasn't already taken by a BDSM site.

I am going to go against the grain and state that I don't like this setup. It reeks of a "lottery"....why not just put up on the website EVERYTHING they have (with quantities available) in REAL TIME....they would SELL MORE GEAR that way.

Of course it's a free country and they can set it up any way they like.

I know the buys are good, but it is not worthwhile (to me, at least) to keep a constant eye on the website and/or email box....so I will stick with my LBS and, for good deals, PBK et al.

They do, it's call backcountry.com. But the deals aren't as good - probably because they couldn't keep an entire business running on this model.

Steep and cheap is the final outlet for backcountryoutlet. Chainlove is related as well, I am sure.

They had an arione carbon for like $115 a bit earlier. Not too shabby.

Actually, I've noticed items from both backcountry and backcountryoutlet on SAC in the past. I'm sure chainlove will probably be the same. Otherwise, I'd doubt they'd have enough items to fill it out for long.

Edit: That Pinarello is oh so tempting...

Glad I missed the Pinarello...as Garysol1 put it, I'd have been doghouse bound. I've snatched a couple of good cycling deals off the SAC site, but this new one is going to require a lot of willpower.

I will say that they've always been pretty good to deal with as far as shipping and returns, in my experience.

I've been agonizing over posting that link since I got the daily dose this morning. On the one hand, if I post the link, the good deals are likely to go so fast I never see them. On the other hand, if I don't post the link, we won't see as many products go through in a day. Luckily, OP solved my decision-making problem.
