White gloves
Could anyone recommend a nice set of white gloves? I'm in love with the Rapha Grand Tour gloves, the classic style is beautiful, but I think my wife will leave me if I spend $150 on a pair of gloves. So are there cheaper alternatives out there?
As for padding, is gel padding comfortable?

Hmmm, you know there is a way around this problem... just create yourself a little Rapha fund / Bike swag fund. Set aside a small amount of money every payday. The other half is most likely to not to notice $25-$75 each pay check missing from the family bank account than 150 dollars.
If you really want the Rapha gloves so badly this is going be your best bet…. doing a hidden cycling fund will give you that ability to hide a $150+ drop for the gloves or any other big ticketed cycling item.
Yea, It's deceptive but it works. You could also let your other half know about the fund and set up something similar for them.
Sheesh I hope that made sense ....

really, your wife should not leave you over spending $150 on a pair of holey, fingerless gloves. She should strangle you with them.
And, in the name of fashion, you should gladly go out.

Hahah! I understand why they cost so much. They are made from extremely soft African sheep skin and they are supposedly very very comfortable. Also it's Rapha so the quality is high. I can afford them but I can't justify the cost. When I ride my hands sweat like a wild boar in the Sahara and I wipe the sweat off my head with my gloves as well. After one ride these gloves would be dirty and smelly. Not worth it for me. Maybe I'll convince some sucker to buy them for me for fathers day.
