old or new'ish

how are you,
Im looking at getting a road bike to train on a couple of times a week to suplement my mountain biking and also aim to do a 160 k ride.
Is it best to buy a 3-5 yr old higher spec Ultegra/105 bike or a newish lower spec Tiagra type.
On a budget so looking at best option.
I belief new Tiagra might be equiviliant to 3-5 yr old Ultegra or 1o5 etc, and would frame technology adavaced so bikes 3-5 yrs difference in age of high/low spec be equal?
If so a newer lower spec might be best as wear would be less.??
Is weight a major issue for my type of use? (ie old 8kg or newer 9k)
What is the most importatnt features?

Appreciate your comments:>

Cheers
