Who carries a gun while racing?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who carries a gun while racing?

Does the UCF have any rules against "racing heavy"?

I'm thinking it might help me contest the sprints.

I'm all for the 4th amendment to the constitution, or is it the 6th? An automatic weapon will be faster dealing with the peloton.

Escapees should be despatched expediently and without prejudice. You are terminated.

Edit: still I think carrying a trident and fricken hurling it into the back of a (superior) attacking rider would be just hilarious.

Does anyone have a link to the zillion page thread about carrying a gun through a bad part of whatever city in Texas it was, or the parody on it of a US troop biking through Iraq? I can't find it in a search and I'm hoping that a server crash didn't eat it.

First any law abiding citizen needs a Class Three License for an automatic weapon from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) & is $500/year. Approximately 2,000 Class Three Licensee holders in the U.S.A. You could carry a semi-automatic pistol with up to 15 round mag depending on your particular state laws. California I beleive limits it to 10 rounds & is more difficult to purchase hand guns. Just for the record I do have a concealed weapons permit. At this point I do not feel a need to pack while riding.

It would be cool to have a concealed automatic weapon permit.

Anyone wanting to take my gun will pry my cold, dead fingers from the handle bars on one side, and the heat from the other hand.

No handgun is more lethal than some of the lower-cat idiots who are willing to sacrifice life and limb for 50 bucks and a cheap trophy.

Actually there is no such thing as a "Class Three License". Title II weapons require a one time Tax Stamp. For automatic weapons, short barreled rifles, and silencers it is $200.

Also, you could carry a semiauto pistol with many more than 15 rounds depending on your state and locality.

I understand that the original poster is attempting a parody of previous threads here. However, I think that it would be absolutely silly to carry while racing given the safety of that environment from violent crime and the weight penalty. Six day overnight road tour--different story.

I would suspect that the same individuals posting here in objection to concealed carry and the right to bear arms are prepared for any other eventuality they may encounter while riding, yet they are not prepared to provide themselves with instantaneous, powerful protection during an armed attack on you or your family. Then again, I would suppose that most people here also do not have 10 days of drinking water and food, generators, and basic medical supplies for a natural dissaster. I also suppose that most here have not saved 100% of their children's college expense and are not able to retire at age 50. Don't worry--the governement will help you at my expense.

What would you do if two armed men car jacked you at the gas pump while you are pumping gas and your 1 year old daughter is strapped into the car seat? Yell, flail your arms around, pull out your cell phone and wait 5 minutes for the Sheriff to show up?

Maybe you should invest some of your money in a sense of humor. It'll make retirement more enjoyable...

Silencers? Do you even own a gun?

Owning a silencer would be a pain. Assuming you purchase a nice silencer then you have to have a threaded barrel & threaded barrels are not the norm. That will cost $200- $450 dollars for a good barrel on semi-automatic pistol. Silencers cost $400 - $1000, & require maintenance due to heat build up. Lastly each state has different laws dealing with silencers, some states do not allow them at all, & in my home state local police have to sign-off the application. Carrying a silencer without the proper paperwork can get you into trouble particularly in any state where owning a silencer is illegal and/or you are a felon. Please see cut & paste FAQ text from a silencer manufacturer.

Contrary to popular belief, silencers are and always have been legal to own under federal law. At this time, the following states allow private ownership of silencers: AL, AR, AK, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MD, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, and WY. Of the fifteen states that do not allow civilian ownership, CA, IA, KS, MA, MO, and MI allow Class 3 dealers and Class 2 manufacturers to possess silencers.

Silencers, like machine-guns, are regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934, and are regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. The procedure for owning a silencer may seem daunting at first, but actually requires less paperwork than buying an automobile.

For the record I own 7 handguns, 3 shotguns, & 3 rifles by the way. Probably too many.

Yes.

Hiram Maxim invented the device and patented it in 1909 using the term "Maxim Silencer". Silencer is accepted and historically accurate terminology. "Sound suppressor" is a newer and more technically accurate term.

Do your appointed superiors allow you to have silencers up there in the loft above our big party?

For further education on the topic, that is obviously quite alien to the subject of a nation state that has stomped on basic civil rights of their citizenry, I invite you to visit the following links:
