Cervelo frame colors

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cervelo frame colors

It's a shame Cervelo offers so few color schemes, I love the Soloist team and if I like the ride might think about getting one next summer or next spring BUT i can't really stand the colors it comes in, i'd only want it in black. You'd think at those prices they'd offer some more colors.

Thats one thing I gotta say I'm surprised about with this sport, I play drums and man you can get a set in ANY color you can think of, I would have thought bikes would have been the same. I mean I know it's not nessicarily that important but what if you only had two choices of colors to choose from when you buy a car, you'd be pissed! If I'm going to drop 2k+ on a bike I want to at least have it in a color I can live with.

You guys think Cervelo will do black SLT's again.

I LOVE the white R3, they're incredible, the black is nice too. I also like the graphics heavy frames, I'm big into aesthetic. I gotta say I REALLY love the naked Pinarello Prince with the neon green highlights.

If they used their Soloist Carbon color scheme, but in PINK or YELLOW, it would be awesome.

I'd probably rock white and black on a SLT if I could have any color, I have a red bike right now and I'm so tired of it, it looks over the top and obnoxious. I had a white flatland bike in highschool, i thought it was so plain back then but in retrospect I never got tired of it.

I liked the original P3c paint jobs. The newer Cervelo color schemes aren't as nice in my mind, but I'd still gladly own one.

Yah but when i spend that much money i don't want to have to repaint it you know, and i probably wouldn't go to the trouble. In the end it's not even 1% of my decision when it comes to frame choice but kinda bums me out, black is so much nicer than gun metal.

i wasn't too excited about the color of it until i saw it in person... it also looks a lot different in the sun.. it sparkles and has a kind of tint to it. it doesnt show dirt like the black one (though nothing really sticks to it because of the anodized finish). also you can get away with any color components and kit b/c it doesnt clash with anything. i should also point out that every female in my club/team has complemented the color (ooh! shiny! pretty!).

the ride is mostly personal preference and has to do with what you want out of it. i'm very happy with my SLT (w/ sram rival)

Cervelo have one paint job for their models because it cuts down on inventory cost tremendously, that's also another reason why they only carry 6 sizes. Giant does this as well. So does plenty of other companies making frames in the Far East. More colours and sizes raises the price, hence Colnago and Pinarello carry a higher premium (besides the name prestige).

From a cost cutting and marketing perspective, long running companies such as Colnago and Pinarello chooses to maintain their sizing and colour selection is due to their long standing presence in the bicycle industry while maintaining a premium on prices without hurting their profit, cutting down on sizes and colour diminishes the brand as people recognise that as a cost cutting measure to ensure survival, which signifies the brand no longer hold prestige. Cervelo came out of nowhere, hence, they can establish a reputation without hurting it, as they have nothing to lose but to go up.

Ha! Funny you should say. I know 2 guys who would've bought a Soloist Team if it was black, but they don't like the gun-metal grey or the silver and red. I have a gun-metal alu Soloist which I think looks fine, but I don't like the silver and red one.

I reckon we should all email Cervelo to tell them to bring back the black one

i just recently got the black r3-sl. at first i really couldn`t decide how i felt about the look - but now i`m in love with the thing. no joke, it gets me horny!

the ride itself is out of this world. just the best bike i`ve ever been on. every ride is an absolute pleasure - in fact i was out today, drizzling rain turned into a deluge, got two punctures and was still smiling!

I agree with this post. The color doesn't really matter to me all that much anyway, but I personally think the finish on my SLT is one of its nicest features. It does have a nice pleasing sheen to it, and it's virtually indestructable.

I totally wouldn't mind if it came in red, though. Or safety yellow. Safety yellow would be kinda cool.

question is, why does cervelo think the grey or grey/red will sell more than the black? I have seen several complaints about the distaste for the grey or grey/red SLT and wishing they still offered it in black. doesn't seem like cervelo is listening to their customers.

Hot Tubes! They can paint it and you still keep your warranty. For a simple job I can't imagine it being too expensive (EDIT- Ok, it looks like it would be a $4-500 job).

Sure, on their CF frames. AFAIK CSC (or whatever they will turn into) do not use the aluminum frames anymore.
