DA chainring nut removal
i know you need the special tool with the 3 little fork things. but what do i do with it? just turn it? the nut seems pretty tight

most of the time you can use a 5mm allen key to remove chainring nuts. if they are a bit tight you can use the special tool to hold the nut while you loosen the bolt from the other side.

Newer chainring bolts are 6mm/5mm dispensing with the chainring bolt tool altogether. A much better system.

yep, 5mm alen key. They're pretty tight coz 'modern' (dunno for how long) DA chainring bolts come with some kinda Locktight, or similar. Ya usually don't need the tool for the back of teh bolt to get them off. And don't worry, if you bust one, they're not expensive to replace
