Wifes bike.
I'll be sure to tell her to flip it.

Nice ride. From the look of the rear hub, getting some good riding already. Flip it? For?

Cyclcist4879 06-20-08 05:52 AM

what year is that Moots? I can't say I've seen one with a seat post collar.

And man... another Eriksen seat post... love those things. Love em.

It IS strange without the integrated binder bolt. Like stickers, too, do ya? You should check out the paint job that Joe Bell has done on a Moots:

You don't have to just sticker it up.

It's an 02ish Mootivator not so many of them out there.

My wife is the sticker fan not me. They are actually retroreflective so in addition to the flames making the bike faster they may also make it a tiny bit safer.

Sexy flame decals. Kinda like the ones I put on my Civic. Actually makes it go faster, I hear.

it adds about 5-10 hp to civics, i'm not sure what that amounts to in watts, but it must be huge

Nice vintage Moots. Enjoy!

What do you mean by "flip it" ?

Flip the stem so that it angles down, making it more of a race bike. Speed before comfort, ya know. ;)

I'm afraid to ride a Ti bike. Not because I think that I'll break one, but because I think that I'll get back on my CAAD8 and get annoyed by how hard it rides.

Someday, though...

I just bought a Serotta Fierte Ti (only carbon in the fork and seatstays). It's elegant in road feel. And I really liked the CAADs, but for all of that stiffness and response I thought I liked...it was tough to argue against the natural comfort of the Fierte Ti. Probably a little too 'cushy' to be truly racy, and the geometry is compact and a little slack, not the lightest either, but I'm very much enjoying the ride.

Back to this Moots, though....whew....it's really beautiful.

My Eriksen is definately smoother riding than my Aluminum bike but not so much that the Aluminum ride is annoying. It's just different.

Where'd she find these? I like the practicality of the reflectivity.

Her dad owns a decal making machine and her brother-in-law is in auto-body/paint school so they made them for her when we visited a couple weeks ago.

2 potential downsides:

They don't seem like they are going to last very well, since the ornate nature of the flames means there isn't much "stick" left at the flame tips.

The reflective sticker stock is expensive and not particularly easy to work with.

Cover the whole stickers with clear tape or something.

I'm actually not sure if that would affect the reflectivity, but it'll certainly keep the flame tips secure.

The two red anodized pieces (seatpost collar and seat clamp) really make it, and send it into 11. It's a beautiful anodized color...deep but vibrant.

Siu Blue Wind 06-23-08 07:14 PM

Oh you are killing me with that beautiful bike. I've been trying to think of something to liven up mine. I also have the red (or trying to) going on.

Love the stickers. I should have gotten red tires but wasn't sure what it would look like. I'm jealous.
