Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Philly international Championship...Rock racing is lame

I watched the race on DVR this a.m. and it was possibly the most annoying race coverage I have ever seen. Rock racing must have been the major sponsor and every 60 secs or so they would flash the RR symbol and then show the RR helicopter view. Not only that, but every chance they got they would mention a RR rider and 90% of the commercials were RR related. Not sure who the announcers were, but they were horrible too. Sorry for the early morning rant, but I hope RR doesn't continue or we will have WWF cycling racing...

Really makes you appreciate the great job that the European production companies do doesn't it?

someone brought up a good point in the VS thread that this was brought up in, if it wasn't for Rock Racing the Philly race would've never been on tv in the first place. I'll take more cycling on tv any day, i don't care if an annoying brand sponsors it.

The local race coverage on ABC here always, always, always sucks... the announcers are HORRIBLE and all they talk about is how everyone looooooves to race in Philly... ads are on constant, actual race coverage is lacking, and they have so many idiotic reporters 'out in the field' doing stupid **** interviews with drunk "cycling fans" during the race it makes me want to hang myself.

That being said, being at the race for a few laps I saw that RR had a team car and then an SUV that seemed to have absolutely no purpose. Other than that, I didn't notice they were here, except for Michael Creed on lap 8 OTB looking like he didn't know what planet he was on anymore.

EDIT: It's still a great race though ... just the coverage and PR stuff is terrible.
