Bikesdirect - why not build kits?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikesdirect - why not build kits?

Why doesnt Bikesdirect.com just sell build kits, since people seem mostly to be interested in the quality of the components, anyways?

eg. Campagnolo will not allow Specialized to sell the groupsets individually.

Excellent and true.

The frame is a way of getting around the component manufacturers restrictions. I'm going to be delivering build kits with cardboard 'frames' for the same reason, but even with huge stickers 'do not ride this thing'...oh the liability...
