Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 S-Works SL2

My LBS just called and informed his Specialized sales rep has a few 2009 SL2 for pre-release sale. So I ordered the 09' carbon/silver frame, it'll be here in the next week or two.

Here is the 09' colors (or at leaset the 09 frame set only colors)

BTW: I think it is sweet looking. Both colors!

You wouldn't happen to have seen the Allez '09 colors by chance?

Congrats!

Just from the pics I can tell that the bottom bracket cluster will be a little flexy. Maybe too flexy. Hmmmm....

This pre-release they are being sold at 2008 prices; $2,900 MSRP, I'm getting mine for a lot less (racer's discount). They are only selling a very few at the 2008 prices, after that the prices will go up 10 to 15%, so says my LBS.

While I truly lust after that frame, I'm not terribly impressed with the fact that Specialized managed to cram yet another logo on there. Amazing.

EDIT: actually, upon further investigation, I appear to be wrong. They had all those logos there on the 2008, too.

Still, too much with the writing...

No, it is amazing. Yes, the number of decals is the same, but now they're acutally BIGGER!!

With what Specialized has been doing with the Allez in the past few years, I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of it all together.

I have the 2008 SL2 in raw carbon/white... I do like the graphics on mine better then the new ones posted above... most of the logos are just white outlines on my frame.. it's less of a billboard..
I have only gotten great comments on it.. (hope to post photos in a few weeks)
Here is the link to the Specialized stock photo..

If what you say is true that your LBS is getting the 2009 frame in a few weeks, I should be upset, even if I love my ride.. I ordered my frameset in october and didn't get delivery till april... and now less than 3 months later they have delivery of a 2009 model...

They are saying it will be here in 3 days; I guess we'll see soon.

I ended up ordering the SRAM Red group for the bike. This will be my first time using SRAM on a road bike; long time SRAM MTB user.

You probably got a better price on yours than the 09, unless you're entitled to racer discount.
You also mentioned you are happier with the graphics on yours.
No matter when you buy, there's always new stuff to follow.
I wouldn't sweat it, and enjoy yours.
I agonize over that stuff all the time, too.
I know how it is.

If you remove the decals you can gain a significant 10 gram loss on the frame. It will get you another 2 seconds shaved off your 100 mile time trial. Really!

I'm glad you posted this. Now finally, after a whole year, I can stop lusting after the 2008. Now I will start lusting after the 2009 model.

If they were shipping the 09 model with new Dura Ace that really would be cool. I doubt that is the case though.
