Is a yellow jersey like catnip to a cyclist?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know what it is... but every time I wear my yellow jersey to work I have guys blowing their lungs out to catch and pass me on flats... it's like they can't think straight any more once they see that yellow.

Anyone here have this addiction? or affliction? or whatever you want to call it...

I never realized bees were fast enough to catch up with the likes of you.

Good philosophy. Makes for a lot less headaches on the course and street.

Last I checked, golf carts don't try to run you over on the course because 'they can't see you'.

Well, maybe if they've visited the beer cart once too often.

I never seem to get any attention when I wear my Canary yellow jersey. It's kind of baggy so people in their fancy team kits don't even wave. They do when I wear my team kit or club jersey, though. Such elitist swine!!!

Geeeez! Now I can't wear a red Nike shirt on the golf course, because someone might actually mistake my ugly swing, and pale white complexion for Tigers'. Now that would be a stretch!!
If someone wants to chase my yellow jersey wearing butt, and pass me, have at it. Cause' I'm not racing, nor do I ever plan to. The color yellow has been around a lot longer than cycling itself, so if God thinks it's okay to create, I think it's okay to wear it.

what is wrong with wearing the yellow? Def a lot of elitest here. Who gives a sh*t?? Ride in what you like. Although I am a tad more subtle with my 2001 PMU green jersey...cost me $80 7 yrs ago and is still #1 in the rotation. I also wear Hammer bibs. No pro kits...but if I did I would buy american. Trying to get work to sponsor my tri kit. (Johnson & Johnson)

I'm Swedish and I even have a hard time with the national team away hockey jersey. That's why the cycling kit is yellow on blue (I'm convinced).

Think of yourself as doing everyone a service, you give them motivation to ride harder to pass you, as they teach you a lesson on how you're disrespecting the meaning of "the" (in this case a) yellow jersey.

People don't go around saying to fans wearing Kobe Bryant jerseys, "you can't even 720 dunk over a pit of snakes, loser!" The funny thing is, you're not even wearing "the" yellow jersey.

And I thought yellow was just one of those Fred colors that people wear to be more visible. It never occurred to me that anyone would wear yellow because of what it "meant."

my yellow jersey is my second favorite of them all. it's a super cheap bright yellow one, and i like to wear it because its visible from a distance. it fits tight, and i usually cant fit into it during winter! i can really only wear it when im in great shape, which is probably a good thing since I don't like to be passed!

i am not a fan of wearing replica maillot jaune, but i am a HUGE fan of passing fat guys in disco kits!

Haha, this hilarious! Yeah, I avoid yellow because I am secretly afraid of bees and the stinging. I had a close call recently with a wasp getting caught in my hair. I kind of realized it and freaked out a minute and squished him with my fingers not really realizing what it was.

Anyway, if I do see yellow I try to avoid it.

I wear yellow jerseys (not replicas, just jerseys that are yellow).

I also have, and hope to shrink into a USPS jersey. Not trying to pretend to be anything, but I have worked for the sponsor for that the last 25 years or so.

i have a white specialized jersey for the best young rider, but it just looks bad ass with the white half jackets, helmet, and matching white specialized shoes. that being said if ppl really got my motivation behind it i would have to change jerseys

I would get a white jersey because I'd be wearing ironically as a 41-year old.
