Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, a TT helmet is 4x more aero than a set of aero wheels, and having a bottle is better than not having a bottle.

There is a larger profit margin made on the more expensive helmets, which means that they aren't actually worth all that much more than the cheaper ones.

And that's why I'm smart enough to run all my purchases by the wife who says, "do you want this, or do you need this? What are we not going to buy or put into savings for this?" A regular jiminy cricket, that wife of mine.

My wife is the same voice of reason... whether I want it or not. That's also the reason my "racing wheels" are Forte Titans instead of custom built tubulars like I want (very reasonable, American Classic hubs with Velocity Escape rims... nothing carbon or super expensive).

Carbon Stems, especially Bontrager's Race XXX Lite. Why pay, what is it, $300 for a stem that could shatter and weighs more than a $80 stem?

My wife is at least on board with my buying the parts for a budget wheel build -- she has just asked me what it's going to cost to have the LBS fix the wheels when, I mean if, I should screw up the build. I think she just wants to watch me try to lace a set of wheels.

Luxury cars, designer clothing, and obnoxiously large televisions... wait, are we just limited to cycling sucker buys here?

Oh yeah, and carbon bar end plugs come with some bar tape (stella azzurra eleganza for instance), so that''s not that bad.
