Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Would like some help buying a road bike.

Hey all,

I'm new here and would like to buy a road bike. I don't need anything extravagant or pricey. I just need a good, quality bike. I was looking at the budget road bikes thread stickied at the top of the forum, but I have no idea if any of them are good, or if I can get anything cheaper.

I was wondering if you all could help me find a road bike for cheaper than $500 bucks, or point me in a better direction. I'm a starving college student that would like to commute to work.

Also, are there any good cycling stores on the web? I don't know what you guys prefer.

Thanks!

Hey,

Hate to self-plug, but please refer to the thread I made to answer your question. It's a bit long, but I hope it helps: https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycling/435374-how-buy-good-road-bike.html
