Computer Question / Reccomendations
I am looking for a decent computer, I am a newb, so it does not need to be top of the line. I would prefer to go wireless because it seems like it would be less headache and I dont really want to be running wires all over the bike. I didn't really see any real reason to get a computer with cadence, but I really feel like I am working too hard while riding. I feel like I am basically trying to go as fast as I can go the whole time, so maybe cadence would be good so I could try and set a nice pace and keep it. I was looking at ordering through Performance or Nashbar since they have the sales on right now, but I ran across this on eBay. Any success / horror stories? Anything else for the price??

I am looking to order a jersey too. There is another computer I am looking at that Performance has, if I order from there, I will grab the Primal Crankinstein jersey. Otherwise, I will probably get my Virginia Tech one through Nashbar. Shipping kills any chance of ordering from both sites. Thanks guys!!

If you want to moderate your effort; get a HRM with a zone alarm. They aren't expensive.
As far as computers go, almost anything is fine. A cheap Cateye or Sigma (or planet bike or...) will be fine. I am using a Cateye Strada, it is small and unobtrusive, and can even mount on a stem. It is also available with cadence.

I run this one from Performance on 2 of my bikes and they work just fine...there is also a version that adds wired cadance.

I think to get wireless cadance you will need to spend a bit more money.
The CatEye Astrale 8 is the standard for wired cadance computers in the lower price range. While it is wired there is only one main wire for both speed and cadance. The harnes splits near the pickup sensors so you can position them as needed...so not too much fuss with wires. As a bonus since speed is taking from the rear wheel the Astrale 8 is good if you plan to use a trainer over the cooler or wetter months.

Performance also has a 15% off sale going on through Friday (orders over $50)...so those prices come down a little. Use code 448 in your shopping cart.

I have a new-in-box VDO wireless with wireless cadence. Performance has it on sale for $90 right now (regularly $140, but often on sale.) I have opened the box but not removed the stickers or mounted any of the components - everything is brand new, manuals included, etc.
I'm listing it on the 'Bay tomorrow but if you want it for $45 delivered, give me a PM. Here's the link:

Seems like a nice computer but I decided to move up to a Neuro 6.0 with a lot more features so I never mounted it.
