Anyone in Los Angeles?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone in Los Angeles?

I have until April 2009 until I get stationed at Los Angeles AFB from Dayton, Ohio, but I already am planning trails. Think I'm excited?

I loved Palos Verdes when I visited a month back, but I think I'll be settling down in either El Segundo or Manhattan Beach because of how bike friendly they are and how close they are to work. Nevertheless, I planned a bike trip down the Strand from Manhattan Beach to Palos. It follow roads (most with bike lanes) along the ocean to a really steep climb to Palos Verdes Hills. Then it travels downhill and around the mountain back to the Strand.

It looks like so much fun I can't wait! I know this may seem far-fetched, but maybe someone from the area would like give this a try so I thought I would share it...

Hopefully this link works!

But FWIW IMO stay off the strand at all costs unless your cruising. It's incredibly dangerous to the public and yourself to ride that strand, sand drunk people, and people who don't know how to control their bikes.
