Route arrows on Foothill Blvd (Norcal)

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Route arrows on Foothill Blvd (Norcal)

I recently moved to the Palo Alto area and have noticed a ton of route arrows on Foothill Blvd and some of the surrounding roads. I am sure they are from recent races or club rides... Does anybody know what routes are associated which color arrows? I am tempted to just follow them, but I am a little nervous about accidentally embarking on a double century...

I live in Pleasanton and ride Foothill all the time, and I have always wondered what they were associated with too. Just moved here as well, about a year ago. Good thing about around here is that there are so few long roads in that area, that its hard to get lost unless you really get to tooling around the "really back back roads".

hojo, why don't you introduce yourself to the NorCal subforum and come out on some of the rides on the peninsula? There are a lot of rides that go up, down and around where you are, and you're welcome to jump in on a ride and learn some of the routes.

A couple of weeks ago there was the Giro de Peninsula I believe. I bet they are still left over from that event. This belongs in the NorCal forums, probably, as 99% of the viewers here could care less.
