52 miles. I started off with my wife and another couple but after 22 miles they all quit and I took off on my own. I felt like I should get at least 50 in since I passed on the RAIN ride.

I almost hit a big ole cat but it jumped at the last second after I whistled.

Great photos! This is one of my favorite rides in the world and your pictures made me want to go back there immediately. Lucky you.:D

My saturday ride was an early evening 17 miler from Weston to the commuter train that goes from Boston to Providence where I threw the bike on the train, which took me to Providence and then a quick ride to my mother's- for a total of about 20 miles. A little longer ride today but not quite as spectacular as the Columbia Icefield.

About 45 miles (in KC area), with around 30 of it in heavy rain :)

^^ hey, I'll be in Newton next week...planning on racing at Wells Ave on the 27th....

Vermont century. Not sure of the elevation gain, couldn't have been that much. Riding time was five and change hours.

Who needs a GPS anyhow?

Congrats! :)

And I've never used a GPS.

Another Death Rider here - although nowhere near as fast as Bostic. I actually ran into him at the base of the last climb (but I'd started more than an hour earlier).

A little late, but I rode from Seattle to Portland (an event put on by Cascade Bicycle Club). The ride was ~202 miles, add 3 to get to the start line from my house. Surprised no one else posted this one (~1500-2500 riders did it)

Rode my first Century this weekend in Greenville, IL. The firecracker 100. Had a great time elevation around 2500ft. Did it in 6 hours 28 minutes. Met a bunch of great people, and can't wait till the next century!!:)

Skyline line drive in Shenandoah valley. I went about 10 miles up, with 8%-9%, 87 F with 70% humidity. It's good training for the road climbing. Avg speed about 8-10 mph. I'm considering very good for me. I have never sweat before in my life.

Wet!!!! My wife and I decided to ride about 11 mi to a town where my nephew was playing a baseball game. We knew inclimate weather was scheduled to roll in and we would decide to make the trip back before it hit. At the start of the 4th inning, our team was up 21 to 1 and the clouds started to roll in and we were rolling out. We took are time in the morning to get there, about an hour. We were riding into about a 9mph head wind. Which means we had the wind at our backs a little stronger than before. This is only my wifes 2nd year riding. I riding multiple times during the week with groups and also have done a few tri's. Anyway I told her to stay on my back wheel as we tried to drop the storm. My parents caught up with us in their van and offered a ride but at a 24 mph pace we where staying ahead of the storm. My wife bonked about 2 mi from our home and I looked west to see a wall of wind and rain bearing down on us. With a mile left we hammered by the storm, but continued to press on. A guy in a pickup did stop and offer a ride to which I kindly thanked him but decided to press on cause we were already soaking wet. It was kinda of dangerous, low visibility, traffic, and the storm. but we made it home safely.

I didnt have time saturday, but raced the wells ave criterium 12 mile (http://www.bostonroadclub.com/wellsave.asp) on sunday and a guy went down in frond of me on the last corner. i would have finished top 20, but ran over his bike. I had to stop and make sure all was well. he had some bad road rash and probably a concussion. later I went on an ice cream ride with a friend and his dad

only 62 miles. Pulled for 30 of it. Did some climbing and had our top two climbers on my butt motivating me to push harder. Since I was pulling, I had to dig down harder to keep them from passing.

I was pretty toasted by mile 50 but we still managed good speed the last 12.

HOT HOT HOT ride. Heat index was about 110. It rained that afternoon and the sunday 26 mile recovery ride with the GF was highly enjoyable (cooler weather). Well, she does like to yabber on about shopping and other things and I just stay quiet most of the time. She doesn't understand about the just enjoy the ride aspect sometimes.

Honestly, i would have loved to do a 100 mile ride this weekend but relaxing with the GF on Sunday was worth it.

My 65 miles was the first loop (the metric century) of the same ride. Congrats on your first century.

I really enjoy the rides with my wife, for the same reasons.

70 miles fae London to Brighton. Rolling hills and blustery wind all the way. But seeing as it's my first 50 miles plus ride I'm happy with it. It taught me some things.

JimF22003 07-14-08 03:17 PM

I did the entire Skyline Drive ride twice over two days on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I rode from Big Meadows to the southern end, and back (110 miles), and stayed overnight at the lodge. Yesterday I did Big Meadows to Front Royal and back (102 miles.) Saw numerous deer, 2 bear, and some wild turkeys.

I'm beat.

Thought you might recognize it! :)

I'm hoping to get back into the mtns several times before it starts to get cold. I made a decision this year to get into the mtns to cycle as much as I could.
