Cycling and the arts

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling and the arts

Ladies and gentlemen of culture,

I have searched for the best section to start this thread, but none seems to fit. So I decided to open it here since it is the section I frequent the most.
This thread aims at listing the cycling references you might have encountered in the arts. Of course there is the obvious example of Duchamp's ready made. Some references may be more distant or hidden like the way some performance artists try to challenge their physical capacities just like we do in cycling.

So, friends of the arts, post your cycling and the arts references here.

PS1: philistines, this thread is not for you
PS2: mods, feel free to move this thread if you find a more appropriate section
PS3: this thread is not aimed at turning into a "is modern art ****?" debate. So please refrain fromposting if that is all you have to bring to this topic.

Being a musician, I'll start with:

- Daisy Bell (aka Bicycle Built for Two) by Harry Dacre *first song sung by a computer!
- Bicycle Race by Queen (it had to be said)

DuChamp came to mind before I even opened the thread. Also, anybody have a pic of that Ferris Wheel thatis supposed to look like a bike wheel?

Nice, this makes me think that if we looked iclosely at Tinguely's sculptures, we could probably find some pieces coming from bicycles.

Oh yeah, it seems that this single speed/fixed gear thing is really spreading in contemporary art. Below is a piece by Jonathan Monk who often uses bicycles in his installations.
