Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

carbon fork crack

I have a carbon fork trek 2.1. I crashed this morning and I can feel the carbon threads on the scratch on the back fork. My question is, can these forks be replaced or is the whole frame ruined?

Check with your trek dealer and trek's web site. I think the standard trek advice is replace if there has been any impact.
I had a head on collision with a motorbike last year and the crown (alloy) of my fork cracked. There was no sign of any damage to my carbon frame or carbon section of my fork but I was told to replace the frame as you can't see the damage inside the carbon tubing.

THE TREK SITE:
What if I crash my carbon frame or part?
Carbon crash replacement policy
Assessing any damage done to a carbon fiber part requires more experience than is needed to inspect metal parts. If you crash or impact your bike and the force of the impact is absorbed by a carbon part, we strongly encourage you to replace the part, even if there are no indications of damage. If such a crash or impact occurs, Trek offers a crash replacement program for carbon parts, substantially reducing any replacement cost. To take advantage of this program, contact your local Authorized Trek Dealer.

Yes but the OPs bike has an aluminium frame so its is most likely OK.

To answer the question. The fork is probably toast. The good news is that the fork can be replaced independently of the frame. Soooo you probably need a new fork but the frams is most likely OK.

Take it to your local Trek dealer to have a professional assess the damage DO NOT ride the bike if the fork is damaged.
