Helmet, sunglasses, headphone (i know what you think; just say i use it only when it's safe to do so for all involved). Some cable routing instructions and brand of each would be helpful too.

I wear my helmet with a small light attached. That's it. Simple and light.

Helmet, with sweatband or headsweat underneath. Sunglasses over helmet straps. ON the rare occasion that I've got phones, I use earbuds with the cable running under my jersey and down my back, with the ipod in my jersey pocket.

It's not really that much stuff, and I kind of feel like there aren't that many different ways to do it. The arms of your glasses go under the straps of your helmet. Headphones come in from the outside of the straps. iPod is in a plastic bag in my back jersey pocket or, if I'm bringing a backpack, in the backpack. Cable hangs down and you deal with it. I've seen people run the cable inside a full or partial zip jersey, but that seems gross to me. I only wear headphones on very open roads with light traffic, and only my right ear. I leave the left bud out to hear what's around me. I haven't worn them in a long time, though. I've lately been preferring to listen to my surroundings.
Make sure you wear earbuds that fit well into your ears. If they're prone to falling out,
they will for sure be a pain in the ass for the whole ride.

IF I wear earbuds (approx. once a year), I pin them to my helmet straps. I DO NOT wear them in my ears. I depend on my ears to warn me of potential dangers ... plus blocking my ears like that makes me incredibly dizzy.

This is how we do it
(This is how we do it)
1. iPod headphone goes into right ear only with left earphone and cable running down my back under the jersey, through the handy little hole Castelli gives you into their handy little MP3 pocket.
EDIT: 1a. Sometimes this is when I put on a cycling cap, like if it's raining, or I want to look especially pro.
2. Helmet goes on, not buckled.
3. iPod right earphone gets looped a couple of times around helmet strap because sometimes, while I'm exerting massive power up a hill, or sprinting to pass people on comfort bikes so they know that I'm better than they are, the earbud will come out of my ear, because generating torque such as I do makes me sweat. The looping ensures that it will hang out just below my ear, not at my nipples. Helmet gets buckled.
4. Sunglasses go on over helmet straps. Not necessarily more comfortable, pretty much the same as under, but it's what everyone else seems to do, and I don't want to be the subject of another "We're going to yell at you" thread.

that's silly. step one, put on glasses, step two, put on helmet.
step three: after ride, take everything off and then listen to music while not biking.

IPod is clipped onto left "lapel". Ear bud cable routes up over left shoulder, around back of neck, down right shoulder and into ears on the outside of helmet straps.
