How do you look under your arm?
Just like the thread says. I'm mostly a commuting and recreational cyclist. I'm able to look back over my sholder and keep a line. However, I want to learn how to look under my arm. I hear good road racers can do this. When looking under your arm, can you see further back than where cyclists would be on your wheel? Looking under, my body seems to be in the way. Do you move your head out or your body in?

head out - think of it as almost putting your own head in a headlock, if that makes sense.
also, you can look between your legs to see if there's a wheel right before you.
but i'm no expert, and i don't even race.

Looking under you arm (as opposed to looking back over your shoulder) isn't done that way because you can see further back (you can't). It's done because it's quicker, less likely to cause you to move off of your line (not a problem for you, but it is for others) and is more aerodynamic. Since you're not racing, there's really no need for you to learn to look back under your arm.

If you are not running an aggressive saddle to bar drop and riding in the drops you won't see anything except your navel,
