Clipless Pedals - What about your destination?
I just got some clipless pedals and love them. What takes some getting used to is waddling around in them when I'm not on the bike. These will be great when my ride starts from my driveway and ends in my driveway, but what about using the bike for transportation, or stopping somewhere along the ride? What do you do for footwear at your destination?

lol well for a short enough stop I think you can live with the clicking and the waddling. If you're talking about serious commuting, then you could keep a second pair of shoes wherever you need to be.
Also, the MTB clipless shoes are a great idea because they're meant to be walked in.

It depends on the bolt pattern. Road cleats usually have 3-bolt patterns. Check with the shoes, I'm pretty sure that some MTB shoes will take 3-bolts.
You could just go platform for errands... don't really need to take your fancy road bike everywhere yanno.

I have MTB pedals for my commute bike and platforms and old nylon clips for my beater. And you can ride a few miles very comfortably in tennis shoes on DA/Ult/105 pedals.

take off your shoes and walk in your socks or bare feet
if you're touring where you're doing as much or similar time walking as riding, maybe consider a mountain type pedal system that has a recessed cleat such as speedplay frogs, an spd system, or a non-clipless system

Clearly, that's because you didn't spring for the carbon fibre pedals.
When I commute to work, I just leave a pair of regular shoes in my office. For the rest of the time, if I'm going somewhere where I'll need to get off the bike, I just take my commuter, which has Crank Brothers Mallet pedals. These have the clipless mechanism, but are also rideable in regular shoes.

just get a pair of cleat covers, road shoes are not THAT hard to walk around in. I walk upstairs in them while carrying my bike and have no problems when I stop anywhere. If I'm just running errands i'll just wear regular shoes, Keo Sprints have a large enough platform that I still feel stable while wearing regular shoes on them. If you really must, get shoes with recessed cleats but I don't think it's necessary.
