Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

help building bicycle

I have never built one before and would like to start. The first thing i will need is a shopping list of parts. So far I have

frame
wheel/tire
breaks
fork
handlebar
chain
front/rear derailur
handle bar

I know Im missing a bunch, Id like to know the names of the other parts so I can shop for them. Thanks for any help. Also, I would like to know what specialty tools i need. I dont know what the names of these parts are so i cant search for them.

Just a suggestoin, you may want to look into a build kit. It will have everything minus the frame and will likely be less expensive than buying it piece by piece.
