Tires ... trying to decide

I would like to get some opinions on what might be the best choise for tires. I have a trek 1600 and I would describe myself as a serious recreation rider. I typically ride 50 to 80 miles. The tires on the trek are Bontrager Race Lite 25 x 700 and I have had problems with puncture flats and tires being gashed by road debris. I am looking for a tire that has superior puncture resistantance.

The tires that I am leaning towards are the Continental Ultra Gatorskin and Bontrager Race X Lite Hardcase. I was hoping to get some opinions as to which tire might be best or alternatively have I overlooked perhaps a better tire.

Thanks for the opinions

Though I've been wanting to try some rubino pros.

I should say that supposedly Krylion Carbons have become very hard to find, and I've seen them over priced in some places, but almost every LBS near me has a few pairs.

Must be me but I've flatted my Michelin Krylion Carbons 3 times in the past 500 miles. 2Xs on the front and once on the rear. I just ordered a set of GP4000S to see if they hold up any better.

i still always recommend these. I'm on my 2nd set, and am very happy. Mostly they're cheap and perform well. Only thing i've ever seen cheaper that was worth using are conti ultra sports, but there aren't too many fans of those out there.
